Itinerary description
La Joux to rifugio Deffeyes via Ruitor falls. The out and back trail is quite hard (did it with an 8 and a 10 yrs old). Marvelous views of 3 waterfalls. The good part of going out and back is that on the way back, with the snow of the glacier melting, one can observe the increased power of the waterfalls, so not the same views in the morning and in the afternoon. The initial part of the trail is also in the shade which is quite pleasant under the August sun. Mid way (about 2000m asl) there is a plain where we saw sheep eating grass by a pond. The arrival at the refuge is fantastic, we did not have lunch but they seemed to have good food there. We enjoyed a couple of lovely cakes and then came back in a long steep descent.
