Itinerary description

Easy trail which takes you through beautiful forest scenery with the final destination; a forest river. There you can bath in the river or have a picnic, before heading back.

Summary;
Getting to the river the trail is a bit more than 3km and with an elevation gain of 200m. The first 2km have an elevation gain and you are walking up hill. The last kilometer has a slight decent making last part easier. Calculate 1h 20min on the way there (3km) and 1h to return (3km).

Details of trail;
The trail starts from the Volunteer House. You walk through the pastures of the reserve, also passing La Hacienda House and The Stables (this is the first 300m, before the trail starts ascending).

There are two important intersections of the trail.
First one after 1.4 km, where when presented by two paths, you choose the RIGHT.
Second intersection after 1.5 km, you choose also here the RIGHT. They are both indicated with signs.

During the last kilometer there is one small brook that you have to cross but, but its small and easy enough by taking a big step.

All other parts of the way you just follow the path and enjoy the scenery which at the beginning has breathtaking views of pastures of the reserve with grazing cows and you can observe birds and butterflies. At one point you leave the view with the pastures and you enter the cloud forest and get to experience the change in vegetation.

Recomendations;
Wear boots or good trekking shoes
Take with you water and keep hydrated (picnic recomended for a river break)
Take your time and allow for breaks, especially on the way there as it is uphill.
