This hike goes through the village of La Cienega de Juana Ruiz, known by locals as simple La Cienega. La Cienega is a small community with a wealth of colonial capillas. We walk past two on the route for this hike and there are several others in the area. There is also a charro ring tat looks like it has been there hundreds of years and is still in use. Further upstream on the hike we come to the remains of a colonial era preasa (dam) with an impresive view from the top. The hike continues into the hills at the edge of Canada de la Virgen.
