Itinerary description

This is very old hike of mine in Tatry mountains from 2001! It's way before wikiloc and any GPS (at least for me). I have drawn it by hand.
I always wanted to post here some hikes from Polish Tatry mountains! But for so many years now, I havent got a chance to visit this area :-/

This was a spectacular hike! All day, with difficult conditions but amazing views!

0,0km at 900m - Zakopane to Kuznice with local roads.

2,7km at 1025m - From Kuznice, with yellow hiking path, through Jaworzynka valley to Murowaniec refuge in Gasiennicowa plateu. This part is relaxing, with mild ascent, through wide and very well vissible path.

7,5km at 1500m - From Murowaniec, with blue path to Czarny Staw Gasiennicowy and continueing with blue path to Zawrat pass (highest point of the route). Until Czarny Staw, the path is easy to follow and without any technical difficulties. From the lake to the pass, path goes through rocky area and becomes very steep. Some sections had ice and were very dangerous. Also, there are chains helping with steeper rocks.

11,6km at 2050m - From Zawrat pass, down through Dolina Pieciu Stawow Polskich still with blue path until the refuge in the valley. Passing next to all 5 lakes of the valley: Zadni Staw, Czarny Staw, Wielki Staw, Czerwony Staw and Przedni Staw. The path becomes better and better in this part, until nice and wide path to the refuge.

14,8km at 1680m - From the refuge, with green path, next to the Siklawa waterfalls (the highest waterfalls in Poland), through Roztoka valley, down to main road to Morskie Oko lake, next to Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza. A bit technical section around Siklawa, and easy forest path later on.

20,5km at 1100m - From the waterfalls, following the main road to the parking area just outside national park in Lysa Polana. This section is very crowded wide asphalt road with many hikers to and from Morskie Oko

23,2km at 980m - Lysa Polana. Back to Zakopane with local mini bus.

The day of the hike is quite memorable, as I was to find out about 9/11 attack in United States very late at night after returning to Zakopane!
I had very bad weather conditions from Zawrat pass, including snow in higher parts and heavy rain in lower. I mark it difficult mainly for the overall distance, some technical sections to Zawrat pass and weather conditions later on.
