Itinerary description
A nice loop to a rather obscure and random Yosemite peak, called Kuna Crest South (12,205'), so named because it is the peak at the south end of the Kuna Crest, duh! Very nice views to be had, and some minor climbing challenges. From the peak, you get a fantastic view cross Lyell canyon and of Mt. Lyell, Mt. Rodgers, and Mt. Maclure. A highly recommended loop which 99% of people probably have never heard of.
One note: we did the hike in mid-June after a low snow winter, but there was still plenty of snow on the climb up Helen Lake Pass, and on the descent route to Bingaman Lake. Ice axe and crampons recommended in early (even mid) summer.
