More information about the route and about organizing and doing the Kumano Kodo in the blog
This section is known as Kogumotori-goe and is designed in principle to do in reverse, because the paths of KumanoKodo all end in Hongu, but if we have already reached Hongu, it is normal to do so in direction to Koguchi. The route is marked both ways.
This third stage of the route is the simplest of the 4 of the imperial road of KumanoKodo, although we will also have to go up and down a certain slope. Perhaps the heaviest is the descent almost at the end, quite steep and with high steps in some sections.
We start from HonguThaisa, making the sidewalk next to the road about 3-4 km flat before starting at the head of the route as such already in Ukegawa. The other alternative is to take the bus, but we did not think it was worth it, also in these first extra kilometers you pass through Oyunohara and some shops to stock up for the day.
Upon arriving in Koguchi, we went around the town again to end up in our accommodation: KoguchiShizen-no-IE.
