Itinerary description

Zalazi are one of the most popular hikes in coastal Montenegro. A few trails lead there but if you're up for a less strenuous one with equally nice views and still a long way to walk, then starting (and ending) in Krstac would be your best bet.
The track starts just across the Sv.Georgije restaurant, goes via Knez Do up the gravel road, there's a shortcut behind the 2nd house on the way which takes you back on the road and where you should see the signpost showing left to Pestingrad and right to Zalazi so just continue on the road until the trail turns left and goes via village of Gacevici (there's a mark on the rock on the right side of the road but was hardly visible in Nov 2021). Most part of it until Velji Zalazi is with lots of vegetation around and can actually be troublesome in summer or when wearing shorts or short sleeves. Closer to Velji Zalazi there's a gate put to prevent cows crossing so you've got to climb the rock to bypass it therefore caution if wet.
From Velji Zalazi the trail continues west and shortly afterwards the worst part of the trail starts for 20-30m only, quite overgrown with wild berries and thorny bushes. Most likely you'll end up with scratches or god forbid torn clothes. From there on it's a zig-zag to Mali Zalazi, first ascending to the highest part of the trail - Luk and then ascending to the village. Both Mali and Veliki Zalazi are abandoned but you may still encounter goats and cows around.
The way back from Mali to Veliki Zalazi is the same and then instead of walking to Krstac the same way back via Gacevici, there's another trail leading up from Veliki Zalazi past the church to the gravel road that will take you back to Krstac. On an autumn afternoon you may be lucky to enjoy beautiful sunsets and colours all the way.
