Itinerary description
About 47 km, 4 day backpack. Kritsa - Avdeliakos - Selakano - Mt Dikti - Ay Georgios - Kastamonitsa - Kastelli on a mix of quiet roads (paved and dirt), Minoan and Venetian paths, and some bushwacking before Selakano - the E4 exit from the road is well marked, but the path is non-existent! Beautiful walks across the Kathera and Lasithi plateaus, option to summit Mt Dikti. Maps: Anavasi 1:100,000 Lasithi and 1:1:35,000. Book: Cicerone: High Mountains of Crete. No transport between Kastamonitsa and Kastelli (but a hotel with a pool in Kastelli!). May 21-24, 2015.
