Koudoumas Gorge

The distance is actually 7 km NOT 10km. There has been some mix up with the gps during the decent.

Koudoumas Gorge is magnificent in all accounts. A decent from 1100m to sea level. This gorge needs canyoning equipment to go through but there is also a well marked trail that one can follow to hike it, bypassing the rapels and eventually reaching the gorge floor. This is the trail we took.

Note that the first part is really tricky, the terrain is rough and slippery at sections, also at some points close to the edge of cliffs. You even need at some point to use a hose as rope to decent a landslide. I would not recommend this hike if you are not in a good shape and experienced in hiking. However the scenery is amazing as there are huge , tall rocks hanging from above at both sides.

After this section you enter the gorge floor and it's an easy hike to Koudoumas Monastery and the beach.

Ένα φανταστικό φαράγγι που προσφέρει μια συναρπαστική διαδρομή από τα 1100 μέτρα στο επίπεδο της θάλασσας.
Το φαράγγι είναι τεχνικό και χρειάζεται εξοπλισμό canyoning για την διάσχιση, αλλά υπάρχει και καλά σηματοδοτημένο μονοπάτι που παρακάμπτει τα ραπέλ και κατέβει στη κοίτη του φαραγγιού
Το πρώτο τμήμα της διαδρομής είναι απαιτητικό καθώς το έδαφος είναι σαθρό, υπάρχουν πολλές χαρές και πορεύεται πολλές φορές κοντά σε γκρεμό. Σε ένα τμήμα χρησιμοποιείται το λάστιχο που κατεβάζει νερό στο μοναστήρι ως σκοινί για να κατέβει κάνεις μια σαρα. Το δεύτερο τμήμα είναι μια εύκολη πορεία στη κοίτη του φαραγγιού μέχρι το μοναστήρι και τη παραλία.
