Itinerary description
Start: Muo, by the police station, up between the houses until finally in the forest and from there the trail follows the serpentine path to the top, one of the oldest Austro-Hungarian military roads in Boka Kotorska built in dry-stone technique in 1860 during the reign of Franz Joseph and hence known as the Franz Josef road. Once at the top, left leads to a nice viewpoint overlooking Kotor and the bay, and right leads to Vrmac fort. From there the trail goes right and along the ridge on a wide gravel road all the way to the highest peak Sv.Ilija. The views are amazing looking both ways and from Sv.Ilija you'll see around all 3 Boka bays - Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi.
To avoid walking back the same way to the fort, there's an alternative parallel road via Bogdasici, just walk down towards Gornja Lastva and at about 5th sharp curve take the gravel road going left, there are no markings further on but the road will eventually end, you won't be able to go straight anymore and the road will turn right and finish in a few meters so before it turns, there's a rocky trail on the left side leading all the way to Vrmac fort and you'll have views over the Tivat bay but not in its entirety..
The final part is down the serpentine road back to Kotor. We went through Novo naselje to Skaljari where we had the cars parked (free parking next to the graveyard).
