To get there from your hostel you have to get a permit that you must pay for and give to the girls at the entrance. We had not visited the hostel so they did it for us in the same Lodge at the entrance. Right there they told us that we could go to the wooden bridge with a normal car. From there only 4x4.
We parked just before the bridge, and a guy showed up (in bad condition, a drug addict) to whom we had to give money to "watch" the car, since there was no one else in the area. On the way back he asked us for money again, but he did keep an eye on the car.
