Itinerary description
The trail "Hut Kom new" - "Kom Peak" is part of the E3 European long distance paths and starting point of its Bulgarian section "Kom-Emine". It's well marked and easy to follow. No special gear needed. This peak has cultural significance and there are some annual gatherings and group activities in its vicinity.
To reach the starting point is possible either by car from Berkovitsa town (12km) or hiking from either Berkovitsa town or Petrohan Hut. Also it's possible to reach the peak with certain offroad vehicles.
On the way to the Kom peak itself the path passes other 2 peaks, first Little Kom on the left and then Middle Kom on the right, both vissible on picture n5 taken from the peak. Both peaks are only few hundred metres from the main trail and easy reachable for Hill/Peak baggers. Climbing should take about 2 hours relaxed walking and taking pictures. Also in the area often can be seen groups of feral horses, which are normaly friendly and some even like to approach people, but a feral horse is big and wild animal, so caution is advised.
