Itinerary description
This is an easy, but long, route up to Kol Ukok. The only special difficulty is that half way up you will find a stream that you have to cross, and there is no bridge. When we were there (july), there was not much water (up to the knee) but the water was so cold that the 20-30 seconds needed to cross made your feet freeze!
At the end of the trail, in Kol Ukok, there are about 5 families living in yurts in the summer, who will probably be able to host you, eventhough we booked our yurt through CBT Kochkor.
Gorgeous landscape and pure nomad life are waiting for you up there.
Good luck!

Hi there!
Do you think it's possible to get close to the lake by car to then go for a hike around the lake only? There seems to be a track on satellite until kilometers 12-13 of the route but not sure how reliable that is. We only have half a day available, so it'd be lovely to reach as close to the lake by car and then return the day after.
Thank you for the tips! Kol Ukok looks lovely. =)
I have the same question as BelleToscan ... could someone reply?
