Orbelos is an extensive mountainous area that is shared in Greece and Bulgaria. Its long ridge is also the border of the two countries. Within the borders it is also shared in the prefectures of Serres and Drama. The highest peak is called Tsolias or Ali Bondou (2212m).
The ascent rises above Achladochori in the west-Serbian side of Orbelos. After a few kilometers on a dirt road, we start at 950 meters above sea level at the entrance to the gorge. The trail moves in the ravine of Sleeping Creek as it is called. We meet beautiful vegetation from beech and pine trees, passing from one side or the other side of the bed, which however has no water. After 3.5 km at 1450m. we will reach the ridge which is also the border with Bulgaria. From then on, we move to the mild border line in the eastern direction. The course was interrupted at 1660m. due to bad weather conditions.
