Itinerary description

Koh Kong is an almost uninhabited tropical island with one resort for tourists.

It's dense jungle, virtually impenetrable. Surrounded by beautiful sea waters and a rocky/beachy coastline.

You can go as a tourist, stay at the resort (25$ per night), and then kayak the creeks and along the coast. Or you can pay a fisherman to take you, leave you, and then go camping.

There are no marked trails, so you have to root around to find them.

This one is only possible in the dry season - a water course dropping down into a creek. It leads up to a high point of around 200 metres in the middle of the island, Even in the dry season there are water pools, and much of the way is boulder hopping or, if you don't want to to wade/swim the pools, hacking through bush to go round the water. Dense jungle, awesome jungle atmosphere (sounds, sights), very sweaty, and the rocks can be perilously slippy. If you fall and hurt yourself here, you're in trouble, as getting out involves kayaking and or swimming.. Would be great to go up during the day and back in the dead of night (take a torch and a GPS and watch out for those rocks and creepy crawlies!)

I'll definitely be returning to explore further.

Have fun.
