Itinerary description
Walk begins in Kilsheelan village, on the main road between Waterford and Clonmel. There is parking for about a dozen cars in the car park for the Blueway in the centre of the village. Exit the car park directly down to the river to commence the walk.
The walk itself begins with a gentle ramble along the river Suir for a few kilometers. Leave the river and cross it at the first bridge (Ferryhouse) before shortly picking up a turn to the right heading for Rathgormack. You now have a choice of entrances to the forest on your right - the one signposted "Munster Way" is as good as any other.
This is a lovely part of the forest, with good views over the Suir valley behind you.
You will emerge eventually onto the public road and turn right, before entering the forest again, this time on your left.
The remainder of the walk is another gentle stroll along forest paths, with views of Knokanaffrin, Knocksheegowna, Raven's Rock and Slievenamon.
These paths will eventually return you to the public road, which you will cross and head down the hill and across the bridge into Kilsheelan. Your car is on your left as you enter the village at the motte and bailey.
Allow about four and a half hours in total for this 18 kilometer walk.
