Itinerary description

We did this walk with a friend who was visiting the area on a fishing trip. We met in the town of Killashandra, walked along the Belturbet Road to the Town Lake. This is a lovely picnic area, with ample parking for cars. We proceeded along the lakeside for about 500m, then taking a path running alongside the Belturbet Road. The point where you leave the road and enter into the forest is clearly marked. The woodlands are beautiful, and are part of the lands known as the Castle Hamilton Demesne. The different pathways through the forrest provide an unbelivable opportunity to see a wide variation of trees and flora, and birds, animals and butterflies. They are well signposted and it is an very pleasant walk. After passing between the two lakes, Broomspark and Tullyguide, we eventually walk along the shore of Pleasure Lake arriving at the Picnic area with some parking spaces. Having rested there we walked on to Killashandra where we had well earned refreshments and a meal. An absolutely lovely walk in beautiful, uncharacteristic, sunshine.
