Hiking route through the Irish city of Killarney in which its starting point is at the bus stop or the outlet shopping center. We will continue along the sidewalk of the road until we reach a golden fence that will indicate the entrance to the Killarney House and Garden, where the vast majority of the inhabitants rest or play outdoors. From there we will continue our route within the park, as it is a natural reserve. After walking a few kilometers we will arrive at Innisfallen Island, a beautiful tourist spot being the ancient Abbey of Innisfallen, an ancient monastic retreat that dates back more than a thousand years. If we advance a few more meters we will reach Ross Castle, the most emblematic point of hiking and cycling routes in the entire city. It is an ancient tower fortress/castle, built during the 15th century by the O'Donogue clan on the shores of Loch Leane, belonging to an island parallel to Killarney called Ross Island. We will continue to finish exploring the island by visiting Ross Island Copper Mine, being an old mine that no longer exists that has now become a not very crowded place with views of the lake and the national park, where animals such as deer can be seen and remains of the mine holes and a small reservoir with water where the underground mines used to be. Like the other point of interest Library Point, with incredible views of the lake, there is a small "beach" of stones where there are often fishermen . We will return along a different route to Ross Castle and cross a wooden bridge to leave the island. We will continue the route along the sidewalk of the Ross road until we pass through the gate of Killarney House and Gardens again, but this time we will deviate to the left until we reach St Mary's Cathedral, a neo-Gothic Catholic Church with Catholic services that was completed in 1855. From there we will advance a little further until we reach St Brendan's College, an impressive college with typical Irish architecture made of stone covered with plants and moss and with several buildings and towers. After this visit, we will continue walking to Fitzgerald Stadium
Fitzgerald Stadium is the main GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) stadium in Killarney, and is the home of the championship Kerry County football team, a team that has won the Munster Championship a multitude of times. From this moment we will head to the starting point, ending our tour of the city by visiting the Irish Franciscans Monastery, which, as the name says, is a Franciscan monastery in Ireland with its own garden, chapel and cemetery, and also contains a skull. 600 years old. And finally we will visit the Killarney cinema, Omniplex Cinema Killarney to conclude our activity.
