Six-day trek with the aim of reaching the top of the mythical Kilimanjaro. It is a beautiful experience, curious, surprising and also hard.
The trekking has hardly any technical difficulty (from that point of view it is suitable for any hiker who leaves to walk to the mountain from time to time). The harshness of the route is altitude sickness and its side effects: headaches, dizziness, accelerated pulse, etc ... The most important thing is to acclimate well and the Machame route is much better for that than the famous Marangu route (route of the coke). It is basic to go very very very slowly. The unevenness to save is enough, and if to this you add the handicap of the lack of oxygen, has a multiplier effect on the physical and mental hardness (although to go so slowly, curiously you do not get to break a sweat). By the way, the path of ascent is made by a path and that of descent by a different path. The climb is the Machame Route and the descent is the Mweka Route (meaning is mandatory ... that is, it is forbidden to do it in the opposite direction).
It is essential to carry a very good sleeping bag. As for clothes, every day (except for the day of the summit) I did it with trekking shoes, light pants and a short-sleeved shirt plus a lining for cool moments. However, the day of the summit is very very cold (both on the rise and inside the tent to sleep) and there if I put on the treking boots, leggings, thermal tights, winter pants, thermal shirt, feathers of crossing, thin gloves, mittens, etc ... (at the top we would have about -20º)
The spectacular thing about this route is to go through the different landscapes depending on the height you are at (forest, forest, volcanic terrain, glaciers, etc ...). It also has its charm sleeping in a tent in some camps with very cool sites.
Possibly, the worst of this journey is that it has become a "circus" since you can find on the way to anyone without minimal preparation (neither the physical, nor mentally, nor the subject of the material) .
To be able to do this trekking, the Tanzanian government and the leaders of the Kilimanjaro National Park demand that you hire local personnel (guides, porters, etc ...). In our case, we were two and they accompanied us: a titular guide, another substitute guide, a cook and six porters. In this way, the trek is more comfortable since you forget to carry excessive weight, to cook, etc ... We were lucky to have a very professional guide like Dickson and some good porters.
I have described and posted each stage here on Wikiloc.
This is a trip, that if one can afford it, it is worth doing once in a lifetime.
Pachi and I enjoyed it !.

Enhorabuena por la ruta!!
Dos cuestiones... ¿Con que agencia la realizaste? ¿ la recomendarías?
¿6 días es suficiente para la aclimatación?
Muchas gracias
