Shortly before midnight we start the summit storm. If you are fit, you should start 1-2 hours later. We had almost full moon, so headlamps are not needed. Nevertheless, almost all tourists have which. It is only progressing depremierend slowly. Everyone seems to be passing us by. When I go ahead 50m I get ridden by strange guides. So I join again our now divided troupe. Despite the snail's tempo, we reach the Stella Point at sunrise in a gale-force storm. Alone I go quickly to the Uhuru, which I reach shortly thereafter. On the return to Stella-Point, I meet the rest of our troop there. 2 men make it to the summit. Then I wait for you at Stella Point for 1 hour and together we descend through endless boulders to Barafu Camp.
After a short break, we continue via the Millenium Camp to Mweka Camp. The descent is long, exhausting, difficult and sometimes very slippery. Luckily it did not rain with us. On this Gipgfeltag we had super-weather, all day sunshine. From the summit you can see Mt. Meru.
Because of the strong storm, it was very cold on the summit. Crampons you do not need, it is only by scree.
The track ends at Stella Point, my GPS was full, unfortunately. The descent to the camp continued east in the scree. The wide path is easy to see. The descent from the Barafu [see Kilimanjaro (8)] is only a plan for me (manuel entered on maps). This is amazingly accurate. There, however, the height and time information is missing.
Therefore, attention !!! The calculated route length is not correct! Also not the information for ascent and descent!
