Itinerary description
This route follows the Kathikas Nature Trail - mostly.
I say mostly because the actual start point is in Kathikas village but it’s not easy to find. So, this walk starts at the second information board rather than at the official beginning.
Starting here also means you miss a longish stretch of tarmac road, so it’s not all bad…!
Regardless, this is an enjoyable walk that follows good tracks and paths. It’s well signposted so easy to follow, although a couple of the signs don’t lead anywhere, such as the one that points to a cave but there was no cave to be found!
It’s a little hilly in places, and the final climb is quite steep, but it’s not overly long or demanding so should be suitable for most walkers.
There are some fantastic views and you’ll probably see sheep and goats ranging freely. We also saw a eagle, a donkey, and meadows full of spring flowers.
The trail varies from gravel paths to dirt tracks. There are plenty of benches for rest stops, but no food or water on route, so be prepared.
All in all this is a nice easy walk around a picturesque area of Pafos.
It's just a shame that, for such a well-marked trail, there are no online resources other than those to be found on Wikiloc. I'm sure it would be used more if there was a dedicated website detailing the route.
