Itinerary description
This was a trek with moderate exertion, but a deadly descent in the last section. Karakai is not known much unlike it’s vastly popular western neighbour Harishchandragad. The trek was very enjoyable, full of scenic views and thrill. Starting at 3:30am, we climbed up and then down tolar khind. Reached Kothale village when it was dawning. After a bit of break, we pushed on and climbed up to Karakai top. The climb was through dense jungle that doesn’t see much sunlight. Fantastic views at the top - Ghanachakkar range on one side. Pimpalgav lake and surrounding hilltops on the other. This followed a steep screeful descent, and a cliffside traverse that got us to Kolhewadi.
We didn't find water anywhere past kothale village.
