Itinerary description
Trail from Ilimanaq to the Kangia Ice Fjord. First 4 or 5 kilometres it is a marked trail, the remaining part is cross country which is not a problem, but can be a bit wet when crossing some smaller streams (gaiters might be helpful). Sometimes you need to round little lakes. There are good campsites at the Kangia Ice Fjord, but take care it can be very cold at night when the wind comes from the Icefield.
Without heavy packs the trip easily can be done as a daytrip, which will be 20 to 24 kms.
We saw musks and at the coast we saw whales.

Ich bin etwas verwirrt. Sind es nun 8,78 km oder 20-24 km? Wir würden gerne an einem Tag hin und zurück wandern.

Hi, it is one way about 9 km, depending how you find a route to bypass muddy parts.
If you do a roundtrip on a day I would recommend to walk a bit along the Ice filed to see canyons going into the ice field. Depending on your route it will be 20 plus km.
PS.: There is a guest house in Ilimanaq, ask at he store at the port.
Good luck, Reiner.
Thank you for answering.
