Itinerary description
Likya Yolu - Lycian Way - from Simena (Kaleköy) to Andriake near Demre
There are quite a few good Wikiloc tracks on this route. I used the Windy Maps navigation app, which is now Mapy.cz. That app was excellent, and I downloaded the relevant map and the whole trail was there and marked exactly. If I started to get lost or wasn´t sure I referred to that. I also got excellent general information from https://cultureroutesinturkey.com . We hiked this in winter. It had been sunny and really cold the previous couple of days, so it was a relief when it warmed up but then it rained a lot. The trail was easy and very picturesque. We arrived in soaked in a downpour in Andriake and found that our hostess was worried we would be cold and was waiting for us with a car and took us to her accommodation in Demre! Demre is not an attractive town, full of plastic greenhouses and high rise apartments near the beach, but is very Turkish. I really enjoyed walking around and liked the feeling. of Demre The square next to St Nicholas Church is a great place to have a coffee and watch people walk by and the street dogs interacting with each other. The church itself is fabulous, and I also recommend walking around Myra.
