Itinerary description
We started off early from Mumbai (04:40) so that we can walk up Kalavantin Durg and Prabal Gad and be back before end of day.
Afternoon, it was a scorcher day with RealFeel rising to 39 Deg C if not more. The sun began to hit me during the downclimb from Prabalgad and sapped energy out of me. It was a real taxing ordeal in the heat.
Technically, Kalavantin Durg was an easy activity with moderate exposure and nothing serious. For vertigo and beginners, the height could be a challenge; however it is nothing as being touted in the travel videos or social media campaigns.
We did not complete the upper rock patch as that section had exposure and we did not carry any harness, rope. The fixed line on the rock patch is notorious and should not be used as it is a static rope and severely compromised due to exposure to the natural elements.
Kalavantin Durg and Prabal Gad are easy treks with no technical sectors or serious exposures however the heat and lack of any shade cover made it medium for me.
Please note, even though I have felt the route as easy for Kalavantin Durg; general consensus on the route up the Durg is medium to tough due to the height and visible fall on the side. Hence, please do due diligence before embarking on this one.

Lower sections of the route have a wee bit of leaf cover in an otherwise deciduous forest. Afternoons are a real scorcher as all trees apart from higher up provide any shelter

The forest is majority shrubs, deciduous trees and weed. A few of the deciduous trees have begun to sprout leaves
