Itinerary description

Kalagban hike is just on the county border between Montserrado and Bomi County easy reachable from the main road. The access road is approx 6 km through and the road is very good even during the rainy season.

At the starting point the town chief is hospitable and parking is easy. Expect to be asked for tip when you leave.

The first part of the hike is on a gravel road. After reaching a stretch through the bush you will reach the first bridge. It was possible to pass it with some help from local villagers however it is a balance act. It is deep and if the bridge is completely destroyed, which might happen during the rainy season, you will need to swim.

Continuing along the trail you will pass some nice small villages. In the small village of Kbagbola the town chief offered to follow us to the river crossing (45 min walk).

At the third waypoint we found a guide who took us to the water crossing and the bridge and he did some repairs for the bridge as well. It is really deep and if the bridge is destroyed you will need to swim.

Finally the small village of Kalagban is reached and after a few kilometres you are back at the starting point.
