Itinerary description
This route takes you around the Wollaner Nock in an easy way without steep descent or ascent. Very suited for bright day with excellent panorama all along.
The trail starts at the Kaiserburger Bahn (2055 m) gradually climbing to Wollaner Nock (2145 m). We initially had no internet approx. 15 min. Then head to the left to the nearby Vorderer Wollaner Nock (2090) hardly losing height. You can see the Dobriach in front of you and the top of the Triglav behind the first row of mountains. Follow the orange indicated alpine trail and descent on a somewhat steep path towards a rough road with a small car park. This road is used by cars to access the Walder Hutte, so you don't want to be on it. Cross that road and take a left to a broad walking path. Easily climbing and, if you started in the morning, in the shadow of the mountain while enjoying the light larch forest. Follow the path, then step over a fence and cross an alm full of nests of Murmeltiere. Follow the indications and cross a small creek, go left and further up. Take a sharp right and after a small distance a sharp left. Here you will find the agreeable Walder Hutte (1960 m). Behind the Walder Hutte a long, convenient horizontal path takes you to eastward, make a sharp turn and continue westward following the orange alpine path indications again. You stay on the same height and will move back to the Bergbahn with little effort, just making a few more meters while enjoying the panoramic view, the sound of larks and raven and close to the Bahn a mountainside covered with alpenroses. Perfect for a hot day or any bright day.
