Itinerary description

Rocks and stones. That's all I can say about this day because that's all I get to see. Essentially, it's a repeat of the previous day but on a smaller scale. From Khorbotse to Udurkas is only six kilometers, yet it takes three hours to reach the next campsite. In comparison to the previous day, there isn't much difference in the landscape, except perhaps for the stones, which seem somewhat larger here than at the beginning of the Baltoro Glacier. Describing the landscape as desolate might be a bit too harsh, as unexpectedly, small glacier lakes occasionally appear. Towards the end of the trek, even some greenery emerges. It's remarkable how nature manages to thrive in such a barren area where seemingly nothing can grow. Suddenly, I spot a flower on a mountain slope or a small shrub among the rocks. It serves as a brief distraction during the walk because the monotonous landscape is certainly not the greatest motivator for hiking pleasure on this day, especially when the moraines make a reappearance.

However, this doesn't last long as it's a relatively short day. Udurkas is one of the more picturesque campsites in the Karakoram Range, boasting its own little vegetable garden. Perched against a cliff, Udurkas has toilets built into the mountainside, requiring a small climb to relieve yourself. These are the things that might annoy me during the day, but in hindsight, I can appreciate the charm.
