Itinerary description
Great 5 day walk. Car transport to start of walk to Lipanska hut, then up to Lipanska hut (great views) and down to Rudno Polje. Stayed at Hotel Central at the biathlon centre ( not to be confused with the Sports Hotel 3km away). Day 2 up up up to Dom Planika (2401m). Lunch at Vodnickov hut (1817m). Good food. Track got harder as we got higher. Above the tree line, it is quite steep across limestone slopes. Last 400m very hard. Fantastic views. Very basic hut at Dom Planika. Ordinary food. We did not climb Trivlag (thought it too dangerous). Some people went ... helmets, harness, attached to safety cable. Beautiful morning on day 3. Spectacular sunrise over mountains. Day 3 to Koca pri Triglavskih Jezerih (1685m). Very difficult track across slopes sometimes holding or walking on pitons or cables. Steep climb to Hribaric Pass (2306m). Then down pass ice ponds and lakes to Jezerih hut. Good food. Inside WC. Smaller hut. Day 4 to Dom Komni hut (1520m). Big hut. Great service, accommodation and food. Day 5 down easy zig zag walk to Lake Bohinj. Note that the tracking may show 2 sudden jumps in altitude. Ignore these jumps. I'll see if I can adjust later after loading.
