I just did this route yesterday. I'm a Spaniard and I did not know any of the mountains. It was my first hiking experience alone here in SouthAfrica.
So if you don't know where you're going and you don't know the place, i would only recommend this route to experts. You have to use your hands almost everywhere. The terrain is extremely steep and harsh. Bushes everywhere, rocks, and some kind of grass that makes you slip downhill.
Also the route is marked with piles of stones, but the trail is close to non-existent, so i thank God for my GPS. Up until the point i ran out of battery, then i got lost for a while.
Keep in mind once you reach the ridge almost every step is really exposed and you'll have a huge abyss waiting for you to fall just under your feet.
THAT BEING SAID.
I loved this route. The wilderness, the views, the climbing, the loneliness, the adventure... Man it was worth it. But you need to remember, experts only. Or go with someone who knows it well.
