Jhinu - Australian Camp

Eighth stage of the ten that make up this trekking .

Behind is the Himalayas ... We descend from Jhinu to cross two of the main rivers. Then a long climb, although not very difficult, but that tires. You can do much of the track, but it is preferable to follow the directions and stop by trails, much more beautiful (at the same time hard).
The Australian Camp is the end of this eighth stage.

0 min

We start the route in Jhinu, a place where you can spend the night and enjoy the hot springs.

We left Jhinu in a westerly direction to cross the river by a bridge after descending about one hundred meters in a short distance.

10 minutes

We cross the bridge and follow a narrow path, ignoring all the roads that appear on our right.

45 min

After a slight descent, we went to a clearing where the town of New Bridge is located.

A few meters later the road forks. We take the path on the left to cross the Modi river.

Now we walk along the left bank with extreme caution with leeches.

1 hour 40 min

After seeing some waterfalls and crossing the streams that follow, we come to a clearing where there are rice fields.

In a small lodge we turn left and continue climbing.

1 hour 50 min

We are surrounded by houses because we are in Landrug.

This town is the meeting point of many roads and from it there are routes to Poonhill, Machhapuchhare and to the Australian Camp, where we are going.

We will cross the town from north to south, and we will continue in this direction by a wide track.

2 hours 35 min

We leave the track temporarily and turn right down a few meters to cross the river course and go back up to the next town.

2 hours 45 min

We arrived at Tolka after a small flight of stairs. It is a relatively large town.

Before leaving, we take the broad track again.

3 hours 15 min

Some lodges dot the road. We see some places of prayer while our path is turning to the left.

3 hours 50 min

We cross a bridge and let ourselves be splashed by the spectacular waterfall.

In this area, landslides are quite common. It is necessary to pay attention to the road.

A few meters after another lodge and just after passing through, we turn left along a small path that climbs quickly up the mountain.

It is possible to reach Pothana by this same track, reaching the milestone 4 hours and 5 minutes of this route.

4 hours 20 min

After just over a kilometer of travel, and with more than 300 meters of altitude, this section becomes long and hard.

In addition the floor is in quite bad condition since now people prefer to go for the track that, although it is longer, turns out to be safer.

We are in Pitam Deurali. Another crossroads in this town, we continue south. In all this stretch there is a particularly slippery clay.

5 hours

We reach Pothana after going down a few meters on somewhat complicated roads, more if they are wet.

A few meters before we have entered the track again, and when leaving this town we will take the path on the right to go to the Australian Camp.

In Pothana it is necessary to seal the control of the Park.

5 hours 30 min

Last steps of this route. We arrived at the Australian Camp (Thula Kjarka) after having accumulated 3000 meters in little more than 15 kilometers.
