Itinerary description
The route offers an alternative way to Jebel Yabana (1480m).
The first part of the trail you will walk on a newly established well-laid trail of Wadi Shah. When you reach P-05, you will start climbing the ridge till you reach P-08. At this point, you will be on the ridge. On one side you will have the view of Wadi Shah in the UAE, on the other side you will see another massive wadi on the Omani side with Al Wasil village in the middle. This ridge is a natural border between Oman and the UAE and you will see border posts while hiking alone it (P-09). I did not find the name of this ridge but some people call it the ridge of Ghabib plateau after a village located on a plateau next to it. Finally, you will reach the minor summit at P-12 and the major summit at P-13 with a flag pole.
The descent route has a lot of loose rocks. You will pass a beautiful valley with huge boulders at P-14. Later after a short balcony walk, you will reach Helek village. After the village, there is a trail with man-maid steps.
Difficulty
It is a rough terrain hike. No scary stuff - no exposed climbs, walking on edges, no ropes. Many loose rocks and stiff ascent/descent. A good fitness level is a must. Overall, it is moderate.
Parking
Park your car next to Bear Grylls (old Via Ferrata) 25.899797, 56.141828. 4x4 is not required.
Must-have gear
1) High-cut hiking shoes
2) 4 liters of water
3) Sun-protective clothing
Organized by Abdeslam
