Few of us friends hiked this loop trail as a summer hike utilising pleasant times of evening late summer times at higher elevations of Jebel Jais mountain.
We ended up hiking almost 18 Kms and 1100 meters elevation gain.
Almost all of this hike is a properly laid and visible trail.
We parked and started our hike from Jebel Jais view deck park.

There is lot of parking available at this place.
During this hike we connected mainly 3 different trails and created a loop.
We started the hike on the existing upper Jais trails (also known as Ghaf summit ) till Jais Zipline and then descended into the Highlander 2022 balcony trail (in reverse) and just before Wadi Shah peak, we connected to the abandoned village named Qusaidah village.
From here we walked on the 7 villages trail (in reverse) to next abandoned village of Dakkadwah village and further to the functional Shahha village.
(This 7 villages section can be separately referred here)

From Shahha village there are many options to explore such as Hidden Oasis, Musaibat village, Wadi shah peak and Wadi Lahsa.
We continued back towards our cars via the well known ascent trail between Shahha village and upper Jais road.
Finally we connected to the asphalted road after a long ascent that takes you on a well visible trail under the zipline with great views of Jebel Rahabah and Jebel Raharah.
For late September summer month, this is an enduring hike due to elevation gain and long distance. This is best to be hiked in winter months.
As we started the hike at higher elevation during sunlight and continued at medium elevations during evening and night, the experience was pleasant and safe.
But good planning is needed and the trail area should be previously hiked and known.
If you are attempting this trail for the first time, please do so in cooler times with all preparations and cautions.
We had hiked this areas frequently, so we were aware of all options, trails and connections for different plans, if needed.
Overall, it was a good endurance hike for summer short hikes that gave is 18 Kms and 1100 meters of elevation gain.
We were well prepared with hydration, first aid, fitness and nutrition and mainly timekeeping.
Summer hikes need best of physical fitness, knowledge of the hiking area, previous serious hiking experience, proper hike plan, full preparation and carrying all essentials in the backpack.

We followed this today. It’s a great route. Not for beginners due to pretty long hiking time. Lovely route and the view of hidden oasis from above was a real treat 👌
Hey Andy,
Looks like you had a great hike.
Keep following for more.
