Itinerary description
I would call it moderate to difficult going up. Mostly scrambling over loose rocks without any trail but the scrambling rarely required using hands. No exposure. Going down I would rate it difficult.
When we got to the road I tried to follow the road up to the top and planned to go down the Smuggler's Route but when you get to the cafe at the top, the road ends and the military controls the area so I turned around and just went all the way down the road, which was a bit boring.
Note that I ran almost all of the parts on the road so bare that in mind for timing.
I forgot to turn the app on at the beginning so that's why the trail starts a few hundred meters away from where it ends.
We parked here (24.1143964, 55.7567904), however, that's a pretty stupid place to start from. You should be able to park in this park (Al Ain Park
https://maps.app.goo.gl/qkXW1Y71UuehZxko8) and start there. There's shade, restaurants, water, toilets, etc. Plus you won't have to cross the highway at the beginning like we did.
