Itinerary description
A beautiful walk in a very nice area of Boston. We visited two areas that are a short distance from each other, Jamaica Pond and the Arnold Arboretum.
Beautiful homes on tree lined streets that lead you to an 80 acre pond with a circular path. Path is in great shape, is well used and has continuous views of the water. Ducks and geese were on the pond and rowboats were parked at the boathouse.
As we were about to complete the loop around the pond we returned to the streets for a short walk to the Arboretum. If you like trees you'll love this place. Associated with Harvard University they have collected, grown and managed this park like setting for over a hundred years. Many of the trees have labels and they are frequently clustered by type. Very well maintained with lots of maps and very friendly staff. Complete with a bonsai/shrub collection, rounded out by wildlife but here the trees are the highlight and they are spectacular.
We'll worth seeing and the walk can be adapted in many ways to suit your needs. Highly recommended.
