Itinerary description
GREAT HIKE IN LEBANON
Hike in Jabal Moussa Biosphere reserve, from Mchati to Baydar el-shawk through the Roman stairs (~2km) and then from there to the Old Lebanese Houses (great!) through the "El Byut Stroll" (~3km) and the El Byut Loop (~500m). End of the hike back to Mchati through the "Hadrian's Incline" (~1,5km). This can be done in ~3 hours for trained hikers.
This hike is among the most beautiful hikes I have done in Lebanon so far: a clean and preserved environment, marked trails with clear paths, various landscapes. The climb through the Roman stairs is a bit tough for a start but definitely worth the effort.
Lots of places for a picnic on the way.
You have to pay an entrance fee at Mchati to get in the Reserve (8000LL).
More info and a full PDF map of all trails can be found on the Biosphere website www.jabalmoussa.org.
Kudos to the Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa!

One the best hikes you can do in Lebanon
Hey hope you’re doing well. I just did this trail last week. But my phone showed that it’s around 12 km rather than 6.
And it’s one of the most rewarding hikes I’ve done so far 😊
@johnnynakhleh Hello! This loop is not more than 6 km. Your phone probably gave wrong info about that.
