Itinerary description
Head to the beautiful town of Santa Maddalena and leave your car near the river in a parking lot.
Thete are more than a dozen of trails in the area but I think this hike covers the best views and places.
Take your left and you will immediately see couple of information boards showing all the trails in the area.
Go in the direction of Hotel Tyrol and cross to the other side of the river.
Go left in front of the hotel and start your way up on the road. You will have a beautiful view of the place on your left. Keep going uphill till you reach a cow farm with some signs.
Follow trail 26 towards Santa Magdalena and pass in front of the farm.
After around 150 m take your right and start ascending towards the Church. You will have an awesome view of Santa Maddalena in front of you and on your right the town with the 2 mountains of Sass Rigais and Furchetta as background.
Enjoy the Church and the views to the max then follow the trail of Rundweg Santa Magdalena.
The trail leads you downhill and when you reach a horse farm, pass by it and directly take your left going uphill again. On your way you will see a small botanical garden and after that you will reach the asphalt road.
From there take your left till 2.6 km from starting point.
At that level, leave the main road and take your left on a dirt road going uphill.
After 350 m take your left again and go downhill in the forest or at its edge. Enjoy the scenery and take lot of pics.
At 4 km from starting point you will reach back the asphalt road.
You will cross a small stream and follow the Panoramaweg sign. There, you will enjoy the best view of the Santa Maddalena Church with Sass Rigais and Furchetta mountains in the background.
After that, you have several options to close the loop.
We took a nice easy trail and reached back the car.
It is a trail to remember with one of the best scenery.
I took lot of pics and to be honest, I didn't want it to end.
Since you are in this part of South Tyrol, 5 min driving from your location is the beautiful Church of San Johann. It is a must visit.
Easy hike and trail to follow.
Enjoy and keep it clean !!!
PS: respect Nature and stay on the trail. Cheers

This trail lead us through private property. The section along the road is dangerous—two way narrow road.
We had to duck under electrical fences set for the cows. Eventually came out from the cow farm, but we were trespassing.
