Itinerary description
Beautiful trail to get to know the towns near Chulumani. Best if done on a Sunday, when towns are more lively! Views are amazing along the way. The trail path is always the cars dirt road, which is not best but it's still amazing.
Irupana: bigish town. Look for places selling jawita, the traditional cheese empanada.
Chicaloma: has the afro-bolivian community of the area.
Ocobaya: very interesting because it looks like a town from inner Spain.
1. If you are in Chulumani, take a van transport to Irupana. (if I remember correctly, cost less than 10 bolivianos).
2. Walk a little inside Irupana.
3. Walk for a couple of hours to Chicaloma, admiring the views along the way.
4. In Chicaloma, take a break in the plaza. Walk up to the cemetery after, for beautiful views and to see how interesting Bolivian cemeteries are.
5. Walk for 2-3 hours to Ocobaya. In the last part, if you get tired or it's late, you can hail any car or van in the road and ask them to take you to Ocobaya.
6. There are vans passing through from the main plaza of Ocobaya regularly in direction Chulumani. To get back, simple get on one of them.
