The "Pigeon Loop" is a signposted path that runs through the Bosque de Cong (indicated by a red arrow).
It is a simple circular excursion that can be complemented with a visit to the small town of Cong, famous for having shot there in 1952 the movie "The Quiet Man", starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.
During the tour, which has almost no gradient and always passes under the refreshing shade of varied tree species, we will pass through a grotto called "La Cueva de la Paloma (Pigeon Hole Cave)", which can be visited freely down a metal staircase installed at such an end
In the final part of the excursion, it is also worth taking a few meters to see the "Guinness Tower". We can ascend to the top by a spiral staircase.
At the end of the route we turn again a few minutes to the right following a track parallel to the river Cong that will bring us to the vicinity of Ashford Castle, which we can see on the other side of a meadow, reconverted for a few decades in hotel deluxe.
