We go to the small town of Clonbur (known in the area as "An Fhairche"), very close to Cong.
After crossing the village you will still have to continue for about a kilometer along the road and then turn off to the left along a narrow paved track another kilometer until you reach a small esplanade enabled as parking and where the journey begins.
The Binn Shléibhe is a small elevation in a grassy cordal that rises to the southwest of the small lake Coolin Lough (or Lake Chualainn) and where the sheep graze freely.
A clear day we will enjoy good views, since this mountain is on the isthmus that separates the great lakes "Lough Mask" and "Lough Corrib", also called Loch Measca and Loch Coirib.
Sitting on top and contemplating the landscape is the main attraction of this route.
This excursion is for the most part WITHOUT TRAIL. Anyone who has the habit of walking in the mountains, on cross-country meadows, be adventurous, orient yourself well and do not mind "wetting" your feet will do it without problems, but whoever looks for a marked and comfortable route is better to forget this walk .
From the car park we walk a few meters along a track and immediately we see a path on the right that goes up a grassy corridor, between trees and parallel to a stream. The terrain may be muddy and somewhat muddy in the rainy season.
When the trees finish, we cross the stream through a small stone dike to go out onto a track. Near there we will see a sewage treatment plant.
We will see on our left a grassy cordal, somewhat abrupt in its central section, but easy to ascend at the ends. We will turn left along a somewhat diffuse path that advances towards the mountain between ferns and pastures.
Walking in the southwest direction we will begin to gain height. We will be able to appreciate a path that goes up diagonally with a tendency to our left towards the mountain and that I imagine use the sheep and the shepherds to go up to the pastures of height. On our right we will see how the small and rounded lake Coolin is staying below.
Following the path we will gain meters until reaching the cordal. The grass is waterlogged in some areas and you will have to look for the least muddy path to progress. This will be the keynote of the day and we will surely end up with half-drawn boots.
Once up, enjoying good and extensive views over the Mask and Corrib lakes and their innumerable islands, we will vary the course towards the west to cross the summit cordal, chaining small elevations marked with stone landmarks.
After reaching the highest point, the Binn Shléibhe or Mount Gable (416 m.), We will begin descending towards the S-SE in search of the lake. The terrain is still grassy, with sheep everywhere. Sometimes we will follow the route of the trails that seems to be used by the cattle, and we will lose height through the areas of less slope towards the lake.
After reaching the shore we will find some ruins and continue skirting the sheet of water on the north side. Between ferns and wet grasses we will advance to complete the circle and merge with the uphill path, where we will return to the starting point.

Difficile de trouver la trace pour monter aux sommets.
Nous avons suivi à la fin du tour du lac une trace qui monte droit au sommet du Mont Gable
