Itinerary description
The majority of tourists travel to Ushguli by car and most of those who don't take the road along the Enguri river. This is a rather dissapointing entry into beautiful Ushguhruli as the road is busy and surrounded by a bunch of new electricity lines. This walk forms a beautiful and peaceful alternative that takes you high above the Enguri river over old sledge tracks along little grasslands and shrublands. However, be advised to take a GPS with you as the sign-posting is infrequent and often hard to spot. Sadly, this trail is not frequently used anymore, which sometimes gives the impression that you are hopelessly lost. But rest assured; one you're following a faint, but evenly trail that constantly hovers around 2000 meters a.s.l., you can't get lost!
