Itinerary description
This is a hike down into a canyon and up the creek to a scenic waterfall. It's challenging and rewarding. Don't let the short distance fool you. Everybody in my group slipped on the way down and hiking up and down the creek was difficult due to rocks of all sizes, both above water and below. There are a lot of fallen trees with branches that create obstacles. There are also a few places in which you'll have to swim or float due to deep water. The hike back up the canyon is steep and tiring. The falls are spectacular. This hike also requires traveling on a dirt road for about 12 miles and the last mile to the trail head seemed like it should only be done with a high clearance vehicle. We walked that extra mile and on our returned we regretted it. Everything you have will get wet unless you bring dry bags. Rocks are slippery, so bring the right shoes. Water is cold, but you seem to get used to it. We had a great time and can't wait to go back.
