Itinerary description
Starting from a large carpark near Tiergarten, this is an interesting loop, first through wooded parkland, then up the hill along some landmarks, followed by a stretch through the woods, along the waters and crossing the town of Kleve itself with its Schwanenburg castle. Unfortunately, Kleve itself was heavily bombed during the war, so there's not much of an historic city centre.
The walk goes up and down for the major part of the hike. There are some nice views from and to our surprise we stumbled upon a peculiar spot in the woods with many cairns (Steinmännchen), some of them meters high, turning it into a kind of miniature village.
Wherever you are on this trail, there are always benches to take a rest and relax.
