Itinerary description
Parked and walked from restaurant Porofarago. Paid the admission of a couple of euro at the entry hut nearby and had a pleasant walk down the gorge. Easy to navigate, Lots of rocks, but that's how most of Crete is.
You are done after about 2 hrs and there is a spot to sell you a cold drink at the end and arrange a lift back to the top. 5euro per person in a van waiting for 6 people or 30euro for exclusivity. (Bout 15min drive up the very windy road)
You can continue the walk to komitades town (or even sfakion town) but I don't think you will find a better taxi deal and the walk looked boring)
There are a lot of tour buses in the morning. Beating the heat of the day would be wise but the day we were there it was a comfortable 24deg and path is shaded. I was glad we did it in the afternoon as there weren't many hikers around.
Good walk but not as scenic as the more popular Samaria gorge.
