Itinerary description
Easy trail, no guide needed. Very good road, can be traveled by 4 by 4 vehicles.
Hire a Jeep service to bring you back from Castelhanos beach (Suggestion: Nei Jeep +55 12 99201-6426, Whatsapp available for contact). Leave your car on the road side in front of the Ilhabela State Park guardhouse (entrance to Castelhanos road), there will be a line of cars already there.
Start from park guardhouse (road to Castelhanos), get the Agua Branca (White Water) shortcut trail that starts at the park guardhouse backyard. The Agua Branca trail ends at the Castelhano road, turn left and continue a long time on the road to Castelhanos until you reach the Mirante (Lookout Stand), when you reach the Mirante, about 100 meters passing it, check a trail entrance to the left (it is easy to see), it's a descent but not so steep, good trail, beautiful one in the middle of the forest. Tread lightly to preserve your knee. Back on the Castelhanos road go nonstop to Castelhano beach.
In winter a 1 liter water bottle was sufficient for me (50 years old sedentary guy).
Not so many mosquitoes but take Mosquito-Repelling Lotions (use CITROilha, sold in Ilhabela downtown). Wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to avoid mosquito bites.
There are restaurants in Castelhanos, also Satellite internet.
One of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see.
Jeeps usually leave at 4:00 pm. Nice Jeep trip.
Note: The 'Água Branca' trail is closed by vegetation and there was no GPS signal.
