Itinerary description

In this hike you walk through the Erifi plateau to arrive at the Selini pool and the Ryaka waterfall. It allow you to enjoy a wide variety of landscapes. It is amazing the contrast between the pine forest at the beginning and the lunar aspect of the plateau at the end. In addition the pool and the waterfall compose a really magical place (of course the best is going at spring). The hike is a particular performance of one described at Ikaria Island a book that is worth to buy. http://www.ikariaguidebook.com/
From Rahes (Christos) you have to take the route to Pezi and park before to get the Rahes Reservoir. There is not a parking area but there are enough room behind the route. From WP1 to WP2 you walk by a road. Around WP2 you leave the road and have to look for cairns, red spots or sticks with red marks that indicate the correct direction until arrive to the beginning of the Ryaka Canyon at WP3. To see the waterfall and get the pool you have to take for a little while the path that descends into the canon. You have to be cautious but it is not risky if you pay attention and follow the red spots. In some point (WP4) there is a turn that allow you to get the pool (WP5). To enjoy an impressive perspective of the waterfall it is a good idea to descend a little more until WP6. From this point you can try to approach the waterfall looking for a path, by yourself, through the stones (there are no marks and take our track only as a suggestion).
You can return the same way you came or you can do a little variation: At WP2 you cross the road and look for cairns that indicate a path that joints the road inside the forest. It is not as easy as walking by the road but scenery pays the effort.
