Itinerary description
On this leg the trail follows and crosses the Middle Fork of the Boise River for quite some time (the crossings are ok, but I chose to bushwhack a small stretch) Once you get up higher, there will be quite a bit of snow covering the trail if early in the season/high snow year. As the trail was not visible, these gps-tracks will differ from the actual trail on some stretches. The area around the Spangle Lakes and Lake Ingeborg are particularly scenic. The trail then goes down to the valley along the Benedict Creek, which is really beautiful. A little further down the Benedict River will meet the South Fork of the Payette River. You’ll get to see two nice waterfalls on this leg; first the Smith Falls and then the Fern Falls. Some parts of the trail after Benedict Creek had a lot of downfalls caused by the snow.
