Itinerary description
The Humphrey's Basin is wide open, full of rocks, lots of lakes, and very few to no people. I was impressed that some of the lakes were still frozen even in late June. -Winter only very reluctantly leaves this region! If you take this hike, it will be one you won't forget! Humphrey's Basin offers some of the best hiking in the Sierras.
The part of this gps route that is in the Humphrey's basin is almost entirely off trail. However, you don't have to worry about getting lost: Mt Humphreys and the Glacier Divide, the magnificent range of mountains to the south of the Piute Pass, are visible at almost all times.
