Itinerary description
A pleasant hike around the backcountry of Palkovice and Hukvaldy, nestled just beneath the ridges of Beskydy mountains. A famous Czech composer of early 20th century, Leoš Janáček, was a native of this hinterland and there´s a theme trail named after him as well as a house in the village of Hukvaldy he lived in, now operating as a public museum.
Apart from the omnipresent reminders of Janáček´s legacy, in Hukvaldy there´s an impressive castle perched on the hill above the village (closed for the winter season), a private zoo, a game park and excellent artisanal bakery.
