Itinerary description

ESP / ENG

Route through the beautiful fishing village of Howth. Starting at the exit of the DART station, you first visit the port area to have views of the Ireland's Eye, a small nearby island, then pass through the Howth market and on the other side of the port where there is a lighthouse. After that we followed one of the 4 trails marked by the Howth Peninsula, in this case the dark blue (neither the longest nor the shortest). All the trails are perfectly signposted, although it goes near the cliffs there is no danger in my opinion. The views are really beautiful and on a sunny Sunday as was the case, there were many people enjoying the route. The return is made by interesting trails located near areas already inhabited. This entire route can be done in 2 hours with ease (something more depending on the volume of photos, which will be high).

    @paul.mc
    Maximum elevation is the higuest point in the hike. Elevation gain is "accumulated drop"

  • paul.mc Jun 11, 2023

    Thank you for that. Im just looking for the actual height you've climbed from the figures given on results page. Do you have to deduct max elevation from lowest elevation (above sea level) to get the maximum Height you've climbed ( not cumulative figures). Is it as simple as that?
    Thanks, Paul

    On a route that has only one ascent and one descent, it would be possible to do this. Under normal conditions it will not be so easy.

    Why this route that marks a minimum height of -5 meters. and a maximum height of 141 meters gives 142 for 'elevation gain' is a question that Wikiloc should answer and not me.

    Your comments are appreciated Toni. Maybe I shd email Wikiloc to explain.
